How is Soap made? & What is Saponification?
Soap is made by combining Oils with a Liquid/Lye solution. Saponification is the chemical reaction that happens when the Oils are introduced to the Liquid/ Lye Solution which creates Soap
What is Liquid/ Lye Solution?
A combination of a pre-measured amount of Lye combined with a pre-measured amount of Liquid (Distilled Water or Milk)
How many different ways are there to make soap?
Three (3) Hot Process, Cold Process and Melt & Pour
What Soap making process does Koche use?
Cold Process
What is Cold Process?
Cold Process is the most natural way to make soap. After the Oils, Lye solution & additives have been combined the Soap in poured into a mold. It is then left to sit overnight. We then remove the loaf from the mold & cut it into bars and allow it to cure.
What is Curing? & Why does it take a month?
It takes two (2) weeks for the Lye to dissipate in the soap (which is called Curing) & we allow our soap to sit for an additional two (2) weeks so that we provide our clients with a harder bar that lasts.
Do you use Lye to make soap?
Yes, all soap is made of lye. It’s the only way for it to be made
Does Koche’s soap contain Glycerin?
Yes. All of our Soaps retain 100% of their Glycerin which makes them extremely moisturizing.
Why do I have to buy a whole loaf?
It’s cheaper! It’s cheaper for you & for us. When we sell you a whole loaf we don’t have to incur the expense of trying to sell all the bars from the loaf.
Do you test your soap?
Yes! Every loaf is tested twice before being shipped out. We want to make sure that we provide our clients with a quality product.
Will my soap be packaged?
No. This helps cut down on the cost of your soap.
